How to Introduce Yourself in English | Tell Me Something About Yourself? - Interview Tips

If there's anything more terrifying than skydiving and it's asked by a group of strangers to tell me about themselves in a formal setting, today I'm going to give you a ten-step process to help you answer that trick question that pops up in everyone Jobs. Interview, hey, I'm Amritesh, CEO of the Trakin Tech website. In this article, I'm going to give you a simple step-by-step process that will help you introduce yourself to any job interview. I'm going to give you some rules that go with each step, and thirdly, I'm going to talk about some common mistakes and how you can correct them. I will also give you some standard phrases to use in your introduction if English is not your first language, and at the end of this article, I will give you a full introduction to use with your own adjustments. 

Introduction:

Tell me about yourself, this question comes in different forms, for example, take me through your background or take us through your resume, but whatever it is, this is a trick question because interviewers ask us about us and they actually know all about us by looking at this résumé, so what exactly are they asking us to tell them? 

They ask us two things: First, they want to know our attitude towards work, what kind of person I am, they want to know whether I am a good fit for the job and what I can bring to the company, they have to attract their attention and keep them interested. Chances are they've had a full day looking at hundreds of applicants who look just like you. This is your chance to show them that you are the right job for the job.

10 Steps Processes, Common Mistakes, and Rules for Introducing Yourself:

(1) GREETING:

Well, in this 10 step process, the first step you need to take is who you are. Step number one is called greetings, now formal greetings are highly recommended as the good morning is known before 12 p.m., the good afternoon is known after 12 p.m., and good evening anytime after 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. to midnight. The rule is to Smile, be confident and make good eye contact with the person facing you. Common mistakes are like saying hello, what's going on, and also fumbling between the good morning and the good afternoon.

(2) THANKS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY:

Step 2, thanks for the opportunity. This is an optional step and depending on your situation, you can say thank you for shortlisting me for the final interview or thank you for this opportunity to talk about me now, this will not only make a great first impression but also help you and the interviewer to relax a bit.

(3) YOUR NAME:

Step number three is your name. Now I am Amritesh or you can also say that is my name or my name is. The rule is to smile to be proud of your name and pronounce it clearly and some common mistakes here are an Amritesh saying or to call yourself sir or miss you now, the question you have is, whether to use my full name and the answer is always yes. Please use your full name as the mere use of your name can sound a little casual.

(4) POSITION AND COMPANY:

Step number four is the position and the company. If you have work experience this is the right time to let them know about the position you held, the name of the company, the number of years of awards you have won and the impact on the company, the difference it makes for them, for example, I've been a sales manager at (use company name) for five years, leading a small sales team and our team was named best sales team of the year two years in a row, I've worked closely with clients and have some important relationships built up. were able to increase the productivity of our employees by 8 percent during this period. 

The rules for this step one sound excited about your work. Rule two doesn't sound too pompous like you're a leader. Rule number three tells you a little more than what you can already read on your resume, and rule number four is when you make an assertion, try to provide evidence to support the one you made. Making the question believable and believable wants make me the same. That is, should I start with my last position and go backward or should I start with my previous work experience and introduce myself and the answer to that is always to start with your last position and talk about it and only go back when it is very relevant or is very important, otherwise, your resume will cover all of that.

(5) QUALIFICATION:

Step five is grades and qualifications. If you are fresher you will not be able to answer step four and will skip straight to step five. So let's look at some examples I've recently completed in the MBA (your university name) with previous work experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a bachelor's degree in media with a focus on public relations and corporate communications, or currently a five-year integrated law degree with a focus on cyberlaw graduate. If your college is prominent and well-known, please mention it otherwise let it roll. 

A common mistake, I'm an MBA from (your university's name) so if you're cooler than just a line like I'm a software engineer from this school then the school doesn't seem enough so this is your chance to add performance-based short stories, for example, I was part of the research project How Modern Technologies Have Changed the Way of Teaching in the Future, where we partnered with an educational technology company to evaluate the effectiveness of some interventions technology-based teaching programs to ensure that you talk about a project in an area relevant to the employer, mentioned the effect of game consoles on young people and is about to appear in an interview with a food marketing company. So how about you tell them this? This project helped us to understand the motivations of today's youth and to get them noticed with our products and services. 

You can also talk about any training or other experience you had during your closing question. Usually, when I bring up my CGPA when I'm fresher I would avoid it because it's already on your resume. But if you want to highlight your academic achievement, how about you say I was always in the top 1% or 5% of my class.

(6)  ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION:

Step 6 Additional qualifications. These can be any external courses you have attended, the skills you have acquired, or the awards you wish to receive, e. B. I completed a six-month computer animation course. I speak German and Spanish. I learned dotnet Java and Python. on Coursera for helping me complete a project and so on.

(7) ADJECTIVES:

Step seven is adjectives. Now use a few adjectives to describe yourself to the interviewer, e.g. B. You could be a determined, versatile, and easy-going team player, solution-oriented, or just someone who now enjoys working with others if you are concerned about English and yourself at this point.

There are native speakers and you can improve your conversational English so let's give one of them a quick call and find out what they have to say, tell me about yourself, well I think it's really good to be authentic, you know is authentic. For what it means to be very real and to be yourself, you should definitely use complicated vocabulary and grammatical structures, as long as it doesn't interfere with who you are and how you present yourself.

(8) HOBBIES AND PASSIONS:

Step number eight is called hobbies and passions. This is optional, but you want to indicate if this will help you connect with the interviewer if you feel it is important, or help you develop some skills that you might want to demonstrate to them, for example. I'm a trained singer and daily riyaaz has taught me self-discipline and devotion or I'm an avid runner and that not only helps me stay in shape but also helps me connect with other runners in the community.

(9) FAMILY:

Step number nine is family. This is now optional. Normally I would leave it out on a standard introduction, but you can use it strategically if you want my mother to stay home for example and during my vacation, I helped her set up a small tailoring boutique at home with my savings from work.

(10) ENDING:

Step ten is called the closing. This is where you tell the interviewer two things: first, why you are here, why you are applying for this position, and second, why you are a suitable candidate for this position. You can also use and connect your future plans. on corporate goals, for example, although I love my current position, I now feel ready for a more demanding task and this position appeals to me very much. 

This is a very general statement and can make it more specific and appropriate for the company or for you. I can show you your research on the company and still praise it a little, for example with my passion for sport and my skills in data analysis.
