10 New Features of Microsoft Edge 2021

In this session, we are going to deal with the article titled " 10 New Features of Microsoft Edge 2021". Today, Microsoft Edge is gaining popularity among web browsers users as New Features of Microsoft Edge 2021 are very practical and useful. The new chrome-based Microsoft Edge browser offers a great web experience with fast loading times, improved security tools for developers, and a ton of useful built-in features.

Check Update for Microsoft Edge:

We are about to start. Before going any further, make sure you are using the latest version of Microsoft Edge. To verify this, Click the three-dot menu icon. In the drop-down menu at the top right go all the way down to help with feedback and if you select from Microsoft Edge it will automatically check for an update and update it if necessary.

(1) New Sidebar Search

The first feature I have for you is the "New sidebar search", which allows you to quickly and easily search for any word or topic without opening a new tab to test out the word bitcoin, the easiest way to do this do is to left-click the word twice and as you can see it is now highlighted, right-click the highlighted text and select Search from sidebar four, this will open a bar page on the right here by searching for the word you selected.

(2) Web Capture Tool to Take a Screenshot

You can use the web capture tool to take a screenshot of part or all of a webpage. To take a screenshot, go to the top-right menu and select Web Capture or you can use the keyboard plus shift plus letter shortcut If your options are free choice or whole page, we'll go with free choice. Left-click and drag to capture and then release the contents. After that, you can copy and add notes as you go into adding notes. It has additional options, you can highlight it with the drawing tool, share it, copy it, and save it on your computer.

(3) Install Website as Applications

This is interesting when you have websites that you visit frequently. You can install them as applications. For example, if you want to install youtube as an application, go to the top-right menu, go to Applications and choose Install youtube and note that this will work with any site, and click Install this will now open the site you have installed, in its own separate application window. We will close this to manage this site Applications that you have installed Go back to the menu to Applications and select Manage Applications go to Right Click In the app, you have the option to set the permissions of the site to display. Create a shortcut or install it on your computer. When you click Create Shortcut, You have the option to pin them to your desktop or the Start menu, and then click Pin, now you're done.

(4) Create a Vertical Stack of Open Tabs

The next feature allows you to create a vertical stack of your open tabs along the left side of the browser, to do this click the little icon in the top left to activate the vertical tabs, to go back to the horizontal layout, click that again Icon to disable vertical tabs.

(5) Immersive Reader (that makes web pages easier to Read)

Edge has a cool feature called Immersive Reader that makes web pages easier to read without using the added clutter. Find the book icon to the right of the address bar and click on it. There is a Read aloud feature that reads the article aloud with options to configure your text settings Grammar Tools Nouns Highlight Verbs Adjectives and Adverbs and the Reading Settings give you additional options.

(6) Shopping Tool

The shopping tool is very useful, it compares the prices of the product you are looking at with those of other retailers and notifies you of the coupons or promotions available, click on the buy icon to the right of the address bar in it, for example, this article appears somewhere else to be available for a hundred dollars less, but there are no coupons or promotions available for this product.

(7) Collections Feature

One feature some of you may find useful in organizing your web activity is collections, which allows you to organize webpage snippets and images that you find on the web to access your collections. Select the collection icon to the right of the address bar. I recently started adding a current page to one of your collections. Select the collection and then select Add Current Page when you right-click anything in your collection To create a new collection, here we click the back button and select Start a New Collection, name it to do it however you want, and hit enter on your keyboard, hit the back button and as you can see it just adds it.

Another way to add a webpage to a collection is to simply right-click on the page, add the page to collections, and select the collection and choose collection

(8) Pinning Tab Feature

Tab pinning is a great way to keep your favorite pages open. With just one click you can pin a tab, right-click on it and select the tab to pin and you will find that it takes up less space. You probably already know that it takes things to another level for the most visited sites. Microsoft Edge allows you to pin those sites to your taskbar, rename them to your taskbar if you want, and click Pin Now. You will notice it on the system tray here, to unpin it, just right-click on it and choose remove/unpin from the system tray i.e taskbar.

(9) Extensions Feature

Extensions are a great way to improve the functionality of your browser for finding and adding extensions. At the right side of the page, Go to the menu and select Extensions on this page. Select Get Extensions for Microsoft Edge. This will take you to the Edge add-on store, find the extension you want and click get and this will add the extension to Microsoft Edge, but wait, there's more as the Edge is based on Chrome. 

You can also install extensions from the Chrome web shop/store on the Edge so that this happens at the bottom left, enable Allow extensions from other stores, then click Allow, then go to the Chrome web store. Thankfully, Microsoft has now made it easier, at the handy link, click it, find your extension, select it, and then click Add to Chrome which will add it to Microsoft Edge.

(10) Sleep-Tab Feature

As most of you know, the more tabs you have open, the slower your browser will be to prevent inactive tabs from using resources and using the sleep-tab feature. Go to the menu and select the settings in the left pane, go to The System in the Save resources section and enable Save resources with tabs to sleep now below that choose the idle time when these tabs are from 5 minutes to 12 hours. I will post mine here in 30 minutes now, if I click an inactive tab that was inactive, if I click that tab it will be activated.

Bonus features:

• DNS Server

DNS servers convert website names to IP addresses at the edge. The default DNS is set by your ISP if you want more security, privacy, and in some cases faster speeds. I'll show you how to change the DNS provider. Let's go back to the menu. and select Settings, then go to Privacy and Services Search, scroll down and find the Security section first make sure you are using secure DNS to specify how to find the network address for websites, you will see a list of the DNS provider.

• Tracking Prevention Feature

They're actually pretty good at their tracking prevention feature to control how businesses are tracking you. Click the menu icon, select Settings, then select Privacy Search and Services here on the left. On the right, follow-up prevention is divided into three levels, simple, balanced, and strict. Make sure the Tracking Prevention slider is turned on and select your protection level. Right, I've found that Balanced, compromise between the two works quite well.
