Introduction:
• POCO F1 was a serious flagship killer & the POCO F3 GT too will be in that class hopefully. This is a gaming phone & the specs are seriously good, we’ll tell you all about it.
• Most important it’s made in India with pride.
Box Contents:-
• It’s the yellow & black combination. You get a sim card tool, a case, a USB Type C to 3.5mm adapter, which means there’s no 3.5mm jack.
• This is the phone, there’s a 67W fast charger & a yellow L shaped USB Type C cable for gaming.
Looks and Design:-
• It looks awesome & gives you a gaming vibe when you hold it. It’s a different design, I liked it.
• There’s one thing, on the Redmi K40 Gaming ‘Fighting' text was printed on the back, while here it’s POCO.
• But, there’s ‘Freezing’ & ‘Speediest’ text printed on the camera sides.
Build -
• Just like Redmi K40 Gaming & this looks nice too with the POCO branding in the middle.
• The scratch guard is pre-applied & overall it looks wide & might weigh around 200-205g. Let’s test! And like I guessed it is 206g in weight.
• Let's put on the case, it’s a plane TPU case & is of decent quality.
• The case quality is good & fits well.
• The phone has a metal frame & Gorilla Glass on the front & back So it’s a metal-glass sandwiched design.
Ports & Buttons -
• As we see below, there’s a speaker grille, a USB Type C port, a mic & a sim card tray. On the left, there are 2 in-dents, microphone & volume rockers.
• On top, you get a noise-cancelling mic(total 3 mics), an IR Blaster & a speaker grill(stereo speakers).
• On the right, there are physical trigger buttons that can be opened with sliders.
• The trigger buttons give tactile & satisfying feedback. You’ll enjoy playing BGMI with it. There’s a power on/off button in the middle of both triggers which doubles up as a fingerprint sensor.
Display -
• It is different & looks squarish like a gaming console. It’s a big 6.67” FHD+ Super AMOLED display.
• It has a 120Hz fast refresh rate with 480Hz touch sampling rate, supports HDR10+ & 10bit colours(1Billion+ colours)
• It’s a beautiful display with a good screen-to-body ratio, the bezels are thin & the chin is quite small. I love the display with a centre punch hole because of the symmetry.
• This display is super bright, you’ll be able to use it out in the sunlight without a problem. There is no in-display fingerprint sensor but a side-mounted one.
Specifications -
• There’s MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G SoC which is good & near-flagship for gaming. It is based on 6Nm which is power efficient.
• There are 3 different variants, we have the 8GB+128GB variant, there’s a 6GB+ 12GB variant too. The storage type is UFS 3.1 & the RAM type is LPDDR4X.
• It has a 5065mAh large battery with 67W fast charging that charges from 0-100% in 42 minutes.
Performance -
• It feels good for regular usage with the 120Hz fast refresh rate & 480Hz touch sampling.
• You’ll enjoy it. The AnTuTu score is 5.96L which should’ve been higher around 6.5L.
• Overall, the performance is more than what it shows.
• You can play games on HDR-Ultra settings, the Ultra HD is locked yet but we played on Ultra-HDR for a long time & we didn’t see any performance drop. It gives a sustained performance.
Gaming:-
• I was impressed with the BGMI & we also got a good performance while playing a heavy Genshin Impact game.
• And it’s fun playing BGMI with the trigger buttons. You'll love the phone & you’ll get used to them. Talking about gaming vibes, you get RGB lights in the upper & lower camera casing.
• There’s a Game Mode, where you’ll see the temperature, FPS etc. Also, you can enhance the graphics. You can custom assign functions to the trigger buttons as well with the Game Mode.
• The power button works as a fingerprint sensor & assigning functions to it would’ve been great! If someone from POCO is reading, can we do it?
Multimedia -
• The stereo speaker sound is good quality & impressive & sounds good while you’re listening to music. And with the awesome display & sound, the multimedia experience is top-notch flagship-level!
• There should’ve been a 3.5mm jack in this gaming phone, but you do get a 3.5mm adapter in the box
OS UI -
• It comes with MIUI 12.5 & there are no problems in regular usage as we didn’t see any ads. You’ll get a good UI experience & I’ll be waiting for MIUI 13 for sure!
Connectivity -
• With Dimensity 1200 SoC, you get 5G with 10-11 bands(no mentions by POCO).
• It has dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi Calling, WiFi 6 support with Bluetooth 5.2 & no NFC.
Camera -
• It’s a decent triple rear camera setup(64MP+8MP+2MP) & on the front you get a 16MP selfie sensor.
• You get all the camera UI features like Macro Videos & you can shoot 4K@30FPS videos.
Features -
• It has Camera2api & Widevine L1 support. There’s a notification light in the RGB camera back.
• There’s no FM Radio & SAR value is within limits.
• The 1 feature that should be in all AMOLED phones is DC dimming which is present & it helps during videos.
Overall Conclusion :
• The in-hand feel is a little big, but it does give the gaming vibe.
• The performance too is flagship level. And I love the display with a 120Hz refresh rate & 480Hz touch sampling rate.
• MIUI 12.5 is ok, but overall, the gaming experience & performance is impressive.
That's all for this POCO F3 unboxing and Impression. Hope you like it.
